Sea Cadets Aberdeen explore life behind the scenes at Port of Aberdeen

The team recently welcomed Sea Cadets Aberdeen for an exciting morning at the Marine Operations Centre (MOC) to see behind the scenes of how Scotland’s biggest and busiest port operates 24 / 7 / 365.
Hosted by Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) Supervisor, Natalie Shaw, the visit started at VTS where the cadets saw first-hand how they safely manage ship movements.

Another highlight of the visit was the opportunity to experience the port's simulator, where the cadets took on the challenge of bringing a vessel into both the North and South Harbours, aided by Pilots Scott McKenzie and Ross Pearce.
Beyond marine operations, the visit also touched on the port’s sustainability efforts. The cadets learned from Belle Sierina, Environmental Manager, about the port's net zero 2040 strategy and the steps being taken to reduce our environmental impact.

Port of Aberdeen is proud to support organisations like the Sea Cadets and provide opportunities to inspire the next generation into a career in the maritime industry.
Thanks to everyone involved in making the visit a success.
