Aberdeen South Harbour Official Opening
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal officially opened Port of Aberdeen’s transformational £420 million expansion project on 22 September 2023, catalysing a multi-billion pound economic and jobs boost for Scotland.
Port of Aberdeen is now the largest berthage port in Scotland, with an additional 1.5km of deepwater berths (up to a maximum depth of 15m), 125,000sqm of flexible project areas and significant heavy lift capacity.
Friday 22 September - Official Opening
More than 250 stakeholders attended the opening event on Dunnottar Quay on 22 September 2023. The official opening was marked with The Princess Royal unveiling a plaque and ‘Octopode Accropode’ structure which was specially designed and painted by local street artist, Craig Fisher.
Sunday 24 September - Public Open Day
The official opening was followed by a public open day on Sunday 24 September. Over 10,000 people visited Aberdeen South Harbour across the day and from the bustling crowds and diverse exhibitors, to the children's entertainment, vessel tours and delectable creations from local food vendors, it was a day enjoyed by all who joined us.
